Dag Kittlaus, Meet the Genius Man Who Sold Siri to Apple,

Since the iPhone 4S debuted last month at Apple’s “Let’s Talk” iPhone event, everyone has been talking about one feature — Siri. The Cupertino company’s digital assistant has become extremely popular, even outside the tech world.

Unlike most inventions that make their way into Apple’s iOS products, Siri wasn’t made in Cupertino. It was actually acquired in a deal rumored to be worth close to $200 million dollars, making a handful of men instant millionaires. Meet Dag Kittlaus…

9to5Mac points to an e24 article that spotlights Kittlaus, one of Siri’s four co-founders. The 44 year old Norwegian had his life turned upside down last year when he received a phone call from Apple regarding his company’s personal assistant software.

But the call wasn’t from just any executive, Steve Jobs himself was on the line to talk about a possible acquisition of Kittlaus’ team and their Siri technology. Kittlaus recalls his reaction to the call from the ex CEO (Norwegian translation):

“Of course it was a great moment when Steve Jobs called and wanted to buy my company. It was surreal. When I heard that it was him, I knew we had made it big. In advance, we were pretty confident that the technology we had developed was so startling that we would get some kind of breakthrough.

Steve was the first caller.”

Once the deal with Apple was complete, Kittlaus and team moved to Cupertino to continue their work on Siri at Apple’s headquarters. He spent 18 months working on the project before leaving the company in October — shortly after the iPhone 4S launched.

Perhaps the most interesting part of e24′s article is Kittlaus’ thoughts on working at Apple. He says that in his tenure with the company, he learned that the iPhone-makers weren’t motivated at all by money or profit. “They just desire to create fantastic products.”

Father of Computing Dennis Ritchie

Without Steve Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) we would have:
No iProducts, No over expensive laptops.

Without Dennis Ritchie (September 9, 1941 – October 12, 2011) we would have:
No Windows
No Unix
No C
No Programs
A large setback in computing
No Generic-text Languages.
We would all read in Binary.

They died in the same year and the same month but it seems only few notice the death of Dennis Ritchie compared to Steve Jobs.

Roll Your Cell On Your Wrist Or Bend It Like Never Before: Nokia Kinetic Future Phones

Who remembers the Nokia Morph? Of course you do. I’d feel happy in saying it was one of the coolest concept mobile phones I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing. What the Morph signalled was a move into the realm of future nanotechnology by giving us a glimpse at what capabilities the phones of the future look set to have.

Basically, the Morph offered a teasing glimpse into the future – a virtual phone that you could twist, distort and bend at will, or wrap around your wrist. For those of you hooked on technology and the hottest gizmos on the shelves, the Morph presented a comprehensive look into the possibilities around the forward thinking of the Nokia mobile phone, and provided an awesome window into the imaginations of millions.

The Nokia Morph phone

If the Nokia Morph really got your technological juices flowing we do hope that it didn’t mean you were sitting in despair at the thought of not being able to wrap your Nokia N8 around your wrist.

But, have no fear.

That’s right, meet the new ‘Nokia Kinetic Device’. Okay, so it’s still a demo product, but here again we have the pleasure to present a tantalizingly real and stunning concept phone. Everything is getting thinner and smaller today, mp3 players are now just small squares of technology containing vast amounts of material, phones have become single slabs of anodized aluminium, but how about a phone that actually ‘bends’. Yes, that’s right, a phone that physically bends likes a banana.

The Nokia Kinetic Device

Here’s a phone that you could happily drop onto the floor without the fear of breaking it, that you could wedge into a smaller
pocket, that you could squish within your palm. Picture scrolling through photo albums by simply bending your phone to and fro; the further you bend it, the quicker it scrolls, and vice versa. Similarly, by bending the edges you can zoom in and out accordingly. Imagine unfolding your phone to take a call or to send a text message. Dare we say that Touch screens may seem somewhat basic in comparison?

Justin Bieber`s Baby ! Story Behind that

A 20-year-old woman struck hard with Bieber fever filed a paternity suit against teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, claiming he lost his virginity to her backstage at a concert and fathered her three-month-old baby.

While the scandal has invited countless “Baby, baby” jokes, late night host Jimmy Fallon so far takes the top prize for creativity with his funny spoof video “(It’s not my) baby, baby.”

A sample of the lyrics?

“You said I didn’t use protection
I only lasted 30 seconds.
But that’s not true,
No, that’s a lie,
It was totally more like 45.”
