LA Lakers Guard Arrested On Sunset Ave. Los Lakers guard Matt Barnes took to Twitter to defend himself against domestic violence charges after his arrest Wednesday night.The LA Lakers forward - Matt Barnes has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence by the police after the police received what they call an 911 call from Barnes neighborhood. When police got to the scene, they say they saw Barnes and an unidentified woman with visible bruises on their bodies but decided to arrest Barnes after they realized that he was the “primary aggressor”. The police did not identify the lady but they described her as someone who Barnes has a dating relationship with, implying they may be lovers of some sort.

The 30 year old was released on a $50,000 bond and he is billed to appear before a magistrate on September 13 on a possible charge of domestic violence and obstructing the use of a telephone. Barnes however maintains that he was the victim in the scuffle with his girlfriend. He revealed that the authorities never listened to whatever he told them.

Barnes signed a $3.6 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in July. The deal is valid for two years. Barnes signed the contract as a free agent from Orlando where he played 58 games last season.

Rich Cronin, the bleach-tipped "Summer Girls" songsmith from the late 1990s boy band "LFO," has died. He had leukemia and was 35.

The group's best known song, "Summer Girls" was a top pop tune for most of the summer of 1999 and the single sold more than 1,000,000 units.

The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard chart, mostly due to the catchy melody and syrupy sweet rap solo performed by Mr. Cronin.

"New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits/ Chinese food makes me sick/ And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer."

LFO, which was short for "Lyte Funky Ones," had some success with their second single, "Girl on TV." The music video for that song featured a cameo by Jennifer Love Hewitt.

As defending champion Tiger Woods teed off at the 2010 BMW Championship, the man hoping to replace him as the new FedExCup champion returned to the clubhouse at the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. Matt Kuchar birdied his final hole to card an opening round of 64 (-7 for the round) and move one shot clear of compatriot Ryan Moore as the current clubhouse leader. Moore's round of 65 (-6) featured a new record for the back nine, including an incredible seven birdies. The best-placed Europeans after the morning's play are the English pair of Luke Donald and Justin Rose, who finished four shots behind the leader on -3.

Having secured one of Corey Pavin's four captain's picks for the US Ryder Cup team on Tuesday, Woods arrived in Chicago with a lot of work to be done if he is to retain any chance of defending his FedExCup title. In fact, Woods ranking of 51 after the first two play-off tournaments means he must produce a good result in order to even qualify for the season finale, the Tour Championship. The world number one tees off alongside South Korean K.J. Choi.

One man in a far better position going into the third play-off tournament is American Steve Stricker. Currently occupying third spot in the FedExCup rankings, the US Ryder Cup team member teed off at 12:30 hoping to keep leader Matt Kuchar in his sights going into the season finale. Stricker is followed onto the Dubsdread course by world number two Phil Mickelson (USA), who still has his sights set on Woods' number one ranking. Tom Brady appears OK after his Audi was involved in a crash in Boston this morning.

But while Gisele Bündchen's other half was relatively unscathed, rescuers needed the Jaws of Life to free another man involved in the accident.

Brady, 33, had been driving in Boston's Back Bay and was at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Gloucester Street when the accident occurred.

Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald says that a car and a passenger van collided at 6:34 a.m. ET and then ricocheted into a traffic light. MacDonald confirmed that the van driver was unconcious and needed to be extricated from the vehicle and rushed to a hospital. Another person was treated at the scene. Officials have declined to confirm the identities of anyone involved in the wreck, but multiple sources have ID'd Brady as the driver of the car.

According to Boston's WEEI radio, where Brady has a scheduled appearance each week, the accident happened early today and left him "shaken" but otherwise unhurt.

Brady was well enough to walk around after the crash and refused to be taken to the hospital, according to the Boston Globe. His Audi wasn't so lucky, getting towed away from the scene.

Bündchen, 30, is currently in New York for Fashion Week, and walked the runway Tuesday night at Lincoln Center. She was expected for appearances later tonight for Fashion's Night Out in New York but will likely return to Boston.
