Priyanka Chopra’s triple delight
Gone are the times when an actress’s career would come to a standstill after a few flops. Priyanka Chopra is a stark example of this new phenomenon. 2008 could not have begun on sourer note for her. The much-hyped Love Story 2050, Hollywood rip-off God Tussi Great Ho and Chamku opposite out-of-work Bobby Deol have been Priyanka’s releases so far. But, is that reason enough for the actress to go through a dry spell in terms of interesting projects and scripts? Certainly not. The latter part of 2008 is brimming with one fresh, fascinating film after another for PC. Priyanka has not one but three big banner films based on diverse, never-touched-before subjects lined up. And the actress blends into the characters she plays on screen with ease. Starting with Karan Johar’s Dostana, a skimpy gold swimsuit-clad, ultra toned Priyanka emerging out of the crystal blue Miami sea has already had the kind of effect producers would’ve wanted. But there’s no need to perceive this Priyanka-John-Abhishek starrer as yet another KJo love triangle. Priyanka is undoubtedly scorching the screen with this film, but Abhishek and John aren’t trying to woo her. In fact, the two are busy wooing each other. “Abhishek and John are going to leave all Bollywood couples behind. They make a very interesting couple. The chemistry between them is better than the chemistry they’ve had with any actress,” said Priyanka. Next, there’s Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, which has Priyanka enacting a once-famous model’s journey from the ramp to rags. The film has already run into trouble with the Censor board over the actress’s steamy scenes with model Arjan Bajwa. Could real-life instances in the film also pose a problem? “Not at all. Fashion is a fictional story and doesn’t relate to any real life character. It’s a very emotional story,” Priyanka clarifies. The actress also plays bodyguard to Abhishek Bachchan in Drona. A role no Indian woman has taken on before. Watch what she has to say about ‘protecting Abhishek’.
